Sam. I. And happy Thursday to you. And welcome to February. It is a month that brings slightly milder temperatures. We go from average highs in the mid 30s today to low 40s by the end of the month. It is also a month that usually brings significant snowfall. Boston on average, looking at a 30-year average from 1991 to 2020, has more than 14 inches of snow. However, we’ve seen a lot of fluctuations in that over the past few years, with at least half an inch in 2020, but in 2021 and 2022, we picked up over 15 inches of snow. Not much last year, just less than four inches. So we will see where we are this year in February. But I can tell you that the next 10 days don’t seem to matter. In fact, conditions are drier than average here in the East. The first ten days of February are the focus of wet weather. It’s actually located in the western half of the country, in the middle of the country, and with those drier conditions, it looks like temperatures will be warmer than average for much of the east. This includes us here in the Boston area. We’re a little above average today, in fact, reaching the low 40s in most locations this afternoon. This is despite there being a lot of cloud cover. It’s because of the light southwesterly winds flowing in front of this next front that we’re watching. It’s coming out of Canada with minimal amounts of moisture to work with, so it will try to generate a few rain and snow showers, but it won’t produce a lot of precipitation. Mountains could pack a few inches of snow across the Adirondacks, Green Mountains, and White Mountains of New Hampshire. A little snow may fall here locally, and we may see some snow flurries, a bit of drizzle, and some light intermittent rain all starting tonight. So, it will be dry during the daylight hours today with temperatures rising above 40 degrees at midday and settling around 40 degrees until the early evening. And you can see from those clouds. I’m not expecting much today, but heading into tonight, there are a few snow showers falling from the north. We may see a little more moisture. Feeding from the south and west when we arrive tomorrow morning. So the best chance of seeing wet roads tomorrow morning on the go will actually be here in southeastern Massachusetts, the South Coast, the Cape and the Islands. So, if your trip is going to stop like this, the weather might be a bit humid tomorrow morning. Other than that, there are just some areas of spotty lighting for some patchy snow showers and rain showers there. Tonight’s temperatures will be the coldest north of the Pike, so if you get any moisture that way, there could be some spots. Unlike that. In southeastern Massachusetts, the weather remains mostly cloudy above freezing. tomorrow. A little rain and snow will continue, but with little impact as temperatures will remain around 40 degrees tomorrow. We’ll tend to dry things out a bit during the middle of the day, and then one or two more snow showers may come in the afternoon as cold air wraps around. Now, most of us will be leaving Friday night, so Saturday morning will be sunny in most areas. However, the exception will be here in Cape Town, where northerly winds on the back side of this front will keep some persistent cloud cover around the area until the afternoon. So, for the weekend, Saturday is brighter in most areas, but there you will see clouds stuck around the Cape and the islands on Saturday. That will not be the case on Sunday. You’ll be back enjoying the sunshine on Sunday at the Cape. Everyone looks brighter. It’s a nice end to the weekend with plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the 30s and look, this is where we’ll stay for at least next week. The first part of the week. However, I am watching the storm that will blow into the ocean. If this is close enough, it may allow some oceanic influence clouds and perhaps some snow showers to work in coastal areas. Otherwise, like that’s me
