A slight rise in temperatures this weekend. Here’s a look at the weekend forecast for NorCal

SACRAMENTO — After a week of mild temperatures across Northern California, temperatures will begin to rise this weekend with a warm pattern emerging.

Temperatures on Saturday and Sunday start to rise into the mid-90s. There’s not a huge change from what we normally see at this time of year, but after a little while, it will be a warmer change.

the pattern

Over the past week, the high pressure area has remained heading toward the southeast. Leaving Northern California in a moderate pattern with a heavy influence of the delta breeze.

Over the weekend, this area of high pressure begins to develop over the desert southwest, shifting a little more to the west which will help increase afternoon temperatures on Saturday and especially Sunday into Monday of next week.

Moisture from Hurricane Jova may be drawn off the coast of Mexico. Humid conditions and humid air may be drawn into Central California on Saturday bringing slight chances for thunderstorm activity.

However, increasing west-southwest flow will likely keep most of the moisture over the central Sierra, east of Nevada Peak and near and south of Yosemite.

Other than the Sierra, most will remain dry through the weekend.

the valley

This weekend across the valley will be drier than Labor Day weekend and warmer with highs reaching the mid 90s. Lots of sunshine throughout the day with light breezes in the evening. Sunday will be a little warmer than Saturday.

Across the foothills, this weekend will be quieter and drier than last. Sunny and dry on Saturday and Sunday, with some clouds appearing. Temperatures warm to mid-upper 80s during the afternoon.

Mountain range

Across the Sierra, this weekend will be mild. Saturday will see more passing clouds thanks to residual moisture from Cyclone Jova. But most of it will remain dry. The best chance for any showers and storms will be south of El Dorado County.

Parts of Tuolumne, Amador, Calaveras and Alpine counties will have the best chance for isolated storms on Saturday before drier conditions return on Sunday.

Temperatures this weekend are in the 80s.

A nice weekend in store across the Delta bringing highs back into the mid 90s. High winds will be possible at times across the Delta with gusts up to 25 mph on the weekend.

Looking ahead to next week, the heat will remain until Monday before subsiding mid-week. We’ll be back for another mild stretch heading into next weekend. Check with the CBS Sacramento First Alert Weather team for any changes to the forecast.
