Today is a few degrees cooler than yesterday, but still looks nice with sun and clouds in the afternoon (especially brighter towards the south). There will be more clouds and a chance of some early morning showers up north, and as a result it will be much colder, stuck in the low to mid 60s there. Meanwhile, temperatures are in the 65-70s in the D.C. area and in the 70s further south. In the afternoon, there is intermittent rain or storm threat mainly over the Catskills through the Mid-Hudson Valley. Otherwise the rest of us should be dry.

The night begins dry, before rain and storms develop in particular. After 12 am. Some thunderclaps are possible, as well as heavy rain. We get a break for a few hours mid-morning Tuesday through the afternoon, allowing the temperature to rise to near 70. If there is more sun, the temperature can easily rise. After about 4-5pm, a cold front will be on our doorstep bringing the risk of rain and storms into the evening hours. A few of them can be strong to intense, and are mainly directed towards the south and east.

Behind that, we will dry out in the second half of the night, with clouds and rain likely to remain until Wednesday morning. The second half of Wednesday should be brighter, with temperatures once again approaching 70 degrees. Thursday will likely be the warmest day of the week with sun and clouds and temperatures in the mid-70s. Overall, it's a challenging forecast with limits (associated with showers and cold temperatures) close each day. So stay tuned for any modifications.

Another front may cool us down a few degrees and bring some rain/storms later Friday especially. Until Saturday. So by the weekend, highs are back in the mid to upper 60s.
