Bad weather in Germany could slow down this week’s match

The beginning of November can often bring adverse weather forecasts for NFL games as we head into the winter. With the threats of high winds, rain and occasional snow, fantasy football managers need to be prepared to pivot if it could impact game scripts and presentation. Let’s examine the NFL Week 9 weather report and how the forecast could impact games this weekend.

Weather forecast updated as of 4:30 PM ET on Saturday, November 4, 2023.

Week 9 NFL weather report and fantasy impact

Miami Dolphins at Kansas City Chiefs | Sunday, 9:30 am

  • Expected temperature: Low fifties
  • Bathing: 70% chance of losing a kickoff during a match
  • winds: Southwest wind 14 mph with gusts up to 31 mph

The worst weather of the week could come for the first game of the day in Germany. Not only will we have rain, but we could see wind gusts up to 31 mph. The unknown here is how these storms will affect the game itself. The playground has a retractable roof and must be closed at the top to prevent rain. However, we have seen the wind blowing under the stadium roof and it can move in a vortex.

From a fantasy perspective, the top options in the passing game, like Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, and Jaylen Waddle, shouldn’t be greatly affected by this. It downgrades more marginal options like Rashee Rice, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Co. The kicking game has concerns, and while it’s not superior to Harrison Butker, Jason Sanders is a bit more on the fringe.

This weather can also push more work into runners’ hands. While Isiah Pacheco and Raheem Mostert should start anyway, the weather could see secondary options like Jeff Wilson Jr. and Jerick McKinnon carry more value this week.

Weather report for the remainder of Sunday and Monday

While the weather in Germany is worrying, the rest of the weekend is looking good, and there will be little fanciful fallout. Perhaps the worst weather will come Monday night when the New York Jets host the Los Angeles Chargers, but until then, we’re talking about a slight chance of rain and light winds.

This is a week to keep it simple. Weather doesn’t have to complicate things, and PFN’s consensus ratings can guide you through your toughest decisions. Plus, you can get the answer to any of your tough decisions in the PFN Start/Sit Optimizer for Week 9.
