BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – As summer heat reaches its peak, an augmented reality experience developed by Florida Power & Lighting (FPL) could help customers save during record temperatures. This year, the interactive Savings House experience takes users through new rooms and shares new, easy-to-implement tips to save on your electricity bill.

Participants can use their mobile devices to navigate through the virtual home, answer energy-related questions to see which appliances use the most electricity, and learn how small, unexpected changes like unplugging appliances or electronics can add up to big savings.

By answering all 10 questions correctly, customers will learn how to save more than $30 on their monthly energy bill.

New features included this year:

■ Donate $100,000 to participate in the donation – Every time a customer completes the Savings House experience, $2 will be donated on their behalf, up to a total of $100,000, to FPL Participation sponsorship program. This program provides eligible customers in financial distress with assistance in paying emergency bills, and also assists those who need to make electrical repairs to their meter box or weather head. Each year, the Care to Share program receives assistance to thousands of families, including families affected by natural disasters.
