Capital Area Forecast: Fall weather follows possible rain today

A somewhat subjective assessment of today’s weather, on a scale of 0 to 10.

  • tomorrow: Sunny and a bit breezy, low humidity. Highs: about 75 to 80.

September has been warm so far, with 9 out of 12 days seeing highs of 88 degrees or higher. We’ll start to level things out over the next week with the highs on most days approaching the average for this time of year, which is in the low 80s. We still have a chance for isolated showers today ahead of several rain-free days featuring plenty of sunshine and low humidity through the weekend.

Friday Beautiful like a Thursday. Highs again around 75 to 80 with sunny skies, low humidity and a little breezy at times. Lows Friday night drop into the 50s again under mostly clear skies. Confidence: medium-high

We should see a lot of sunshine this weekend. But there may be some clouds at times — from the outer edges of Hurricane Lee in the Atlantic on Saturday, and from a cold front approaching from the west on Sunday. We’ll call it partly sunny both days with low humidity and highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. Confidence: medium-high
