Capital Region Forecast: Heavy but welcome rain today

Strong low pressure moving into the Ohio Valley along a cold front is sending dangerous flooding into the mid-Atlantic today. This provides 1 to 2 inches of rain by late tonight. The chaotic weather clears up on Wednesday and also sets up a sunny and seasonal Thanksgiving Day.

The calm weather should continue through Black Friday, but the weekend could see some increase in cloud cover, cooler weather and possibly a period of rain.

Friday The weather looks mostly sunny in the morning, but we could turn partly cloudy in the afternoon with highs ranging from around 50 degrees in our cooler suburbs to the mid-50s in the city. Friday night is also on the partly cloudy side with lows hovering in the 30s. Confidence: average

After lows in the 30s to low 40s, Sunday should be milder with highs likely to exceed 50 in most areas.
