Capital Region Forecast: Sunny September splendor before an unsettled weekend with the possibility of rain

Beautiful, low-humidity Canadian air dominates our days ahead along with cool, comfortable nights. Unfortunately, the story takes a moody turn when a developing storm system off the Southeast coast attempts to come north to dampen the weekend’s potential. But there is still a chance that the system is ignoring or missing us, so we will continue to monitor it.

tomorrow is Wednesday): Another gorgeous day with sunshine dominating. Temperatures tend to be a little warmer with highs reaching the upper 70s to low 80s. Humidity remains low with dew points in the upper 40s to low 50s. Very light breezes from the west and northwest. Confidence: high

Tomorrow night: Clear skies will prevail again as lows drop into the mid 50s and mid 60s. Confidence: high

Thursday Our third day in a row presents with plenty of sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures in the low to upper 80s. Humidity remains low with dew points below falling into the mid 50s. Thursday night will be partly cloudy with lows in the 50s to low 60s. Confidence: high

Friday It is characterized by increased cloud cover as low pressure approaches from the south. It should still be a generally nice day with highs in the 70s and relatively low humidity. Rain chances could reach early Friday night with lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Confidence: medium-high

the weekend It’s a waiting game at the moment as models grapple with a storm system coming up the coast. Depending on the storm track, we could see periods of heavy rain, especially on Saturday, or just clouds and perhaps a few showers. A wet track means highs in the upper 60s to low 70s, versus the mid 70s to upper 70s in the drier scenario. Either way, it can be a bit breezy at times. Lows on Saturday night are back in the 60s.
