Weather Service Forecast – Tuesday, May 21 – Updated overnight

Tonight: The clouds are increasing. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible late. Low 69.

Wednesday: Possibility of rain and storms in the morning. Otherwise, the weather is mostly cloudy with a slight chance of rain or storm in the afternoon. Better chance by evening and some could be strong to severe. High 83.

Good evening! We were back in the upper 80s again on Tuesday which is about 10 degrees above average and more typical for early August temperatures. Unlike yesterday, we saw some scattered showers and storms in the afternoon. But that disappeared this evening. Things remain quiet for us overnight, but that's not the case out west as severe weather broke out in parts of Missouri, Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin. They've seen major outbreaks of severe weather there. This activity will push east into our area overnight, but will weaken significantly by the time it gets here. However, I can't rule out some rain and storms arriving in the Tri-State early Wednesday morning after 6. After that, things look mostly quiet the rest of the day. But with the atmosphere destabilizing by the end of the day, some rain and storms are sure to appear. However, the best chance for scattered showers and storms comes Wednesday evening from approximately 7pm until midnight. This is when some isolated storms become strong or even severe in our area. The main threat from these storms is damaging winds, hail and heavy rain. At this time, the threat of any tornadoes appears to be really low. But it's not zero. After midnight, some rain and storms may persist, but the threat of severe weather decreases. However, we could see some heavy rain and even some areas seeing some flooding concerns through Thursday morning as more rain and storms move through the Tri-State. Another system brings more showers and scattered storms on Friday before rain and storm chances decrease (but don't completely disappear) on Saturday. Once again, Sunday and Monday look active with more rain and storm chances. So, if your plans take you abroad for the weekend, have a “Plan B” especially on Sunday and Monday. Be sure to join meteorologist Tera Blake on Good Morning Cincinnati starting at 4:25 a.m. Wednesday with the latest rain chances in the morning and the threat of stronger storms by the evening. have a good night!
