Clouds and rain move into the Southland, starting several days of wet weather in Pasadena – Pasadena now

The dark clouds and rain that moved across much of the Southland on Thursday morning will remain as the first wave of a storm front reaches the region, with wet weather expected to continue into the weekend.

Rain began falling in Pasadena late Wednesday morning.

Forecasters said there was a slight chance of thunderstorms that would persist Thursday morning, while a general storm system was expected to extend wet conditions into the weekend.

Wednesday’s rain was part of the first wave of a two-pronged system, with valley areas expected to receive between a quarter to a half inch of rain by Thursday morning, with up to an inch falling in the mountains.

But meteorologists said rainfall amounts could vary widely due to the variable nature of the storm system.

Conditions are expected to dry out on Thursday before the second wave of the system moves in on Friday. The second wave is expected to be stronger and wetter, with rain continuing until Saturday.

“Because the second part of the storm system has greater instability and higher precipitation water values, there is a greater chance for precipitation rates to range between 0.25 and 0.50 inches per hour on Friday and Friday night,” according to the National Weather Service. Up to 3 inches of rain by the time the storm systems pass.

Rain should start to taper off between Saturday night and Sunday morning, with a A warming and drying trend is on the horizon for Pasadena early next week.
