Team India and Pakistan will face each other again in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2023. The league match between the two teams in Pallekele ended in a loss.
Before the match, the biggest headache for the Indian team management will be the selection of the wicket-keeper. KL Rahul, who joined the team at the Super Fours stage, kept wicket for around 45 minutes in Friday’s practice session.
PTI reported that Rahul’s intense training at the nets may also have increased his chances of being included in India’s playing XI in the Super 4 match against Pakistan.
In Rahul’s absence, Ishan Kishan played the role of wicket-keeper. Kishan played four half-centuries in as many matches – 3 against West Indies and one against Pakistan, to impress everyone.
Pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who missed the Asia Cup match against Nepal to be with his wife during the birth of their first child, also returned to the team and put in a great effort in the net, the news agency reported.
On the other hand, Pakistan captain Babar Azam said that the recent experience of playing in Sri Lankan conditions will give his team the edge over India in the Asian Cup Super 4 match.
“Looking at the consistent cricket we are playing in both Pakistan and Sri Lanka, you can say we have an advantage (over India),” Babar said in the pre-match press conference on Saturday.
