“Axar is currently suffering from multiple injuries. He injured his little finger, hurt his forearm with a deep throw, and most importantly he developed pain in his hamstring. So Washington was called in,” a BCCI source told PTI on condition of anonymity. . .
On the other hand, Sri Lanka will be missing their number one player Mahesh Thekshana due to a right hamstring injury.
The mystery player strained his right hamstring while playing during Sri Lanka’s two-run win over Pakistan on Thursday.
Thekshana’s injury adds to Sri Lanka’s problems. They are already without the likes of Wanendu Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera, Lahiru Madushanka and Lahiru Kumara.
In Sri Lanka’s Super Four match against Pakistan, Kusal Mendis made a brilliant 91 and Sharith Asalanka made a brave, unbeaten 49 as the defending champions beat the co-hosts by two wickets in a dramatic match in Colombo.
With this win, Sri Lanka qualified for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup final and now has a chance to win the tournament for the seventh time.
