Denver Weather: Smooth roads with less snow, accurate weather alert day

DENVER (KDVR) — Snow will end in the metro area Monday morning. There will be little additional accumulation in Denver.

However, some areas in Colorado will get another 1-2 inches of snow, especially in higher elevation areas.

However, a microweather alert day has been issued for Monday with impacts continuing, including slippery roads and poor visibility in the weather forecast for Denver. The Pinpoint Weather team recommends against traveling if you can avoid it, especially in the first half of the day.

Monday will also be very breezy with gusts up to 40 mph at times.

Today’s weather: Partly cloudy and breezy

Winds will be especially strong on Monday, with winds blowing from the north at anywhere between 20 and 30 mph. This, coupled with heavy cloud cover, will ensure below-average temperatures.

Wind speeds in and around the metro area could reach 40 mph. Additionally, although there will be some melting, the solar shovel will not be working at full capacity unfortunately, so roads may still be an issue by Monday afternoon.

High temperatures will be in the mid 30s.

Weather tonight: Partly cloudy with brisk winds

Denver will remain dry overnight as lows drop into the mid teens under mostly cloudy skies. There will be some thawing during the day, but then the moisture will freeze again overnight on the roads, resulting in slippery road conditions again for Tuesday’s commute.

Winds will remain north at 10-20 mph, gusting to 30 mph.

On Tuesday, skies over the region will be partly cloudy to mostly sunny, with temperatures expected to rise into the middle 40s.

Winds will be southerly, at a speed of 5 to 10 knots. A scattered shower or two could lift the mountains Tuesday afternoon, but Denver will be mostly dry.

The forecast for the rest of the week looks dry, sunny and milder.

Temperatures will rise into the 50s on Wednesday and then into the 60s over the coming weekend. The next chance of showers is Sunday, with some scattered showers possible.
