February 13 – Weather forecast update for Shreveport, Texarkana
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Sunshine returned to the ArkLaTex on Tuesday and will likely continue through Wednesday. Expect more clouds Thursday and a bit of rain late tonight and Friday. A cold weekend will bring near-perfect weather for most of next week.
Tuesday night is cold and Wednesday is warm: Temperatures Tuesday morning started out in the 20s and lower 30s over much of the ArkLaTex. Expect another cold night Tuesday night. Lows will likely drop into the low to middle 30s for most of the area. The heat trend that began Tuesday is expected to continue until Thursday. Daytime highs on Wednesday will likely climb into the mid to upper 60s. It won’t be as cold Wednesday night with lows mainly in the low to mid 40s. Daytime highs on Thursday will likely return to the upper 60s to lower 70s.
No rain until late Friday: Futurecast shows we will see clear skies over the ArkLaTex again Tuesday night. This combined with the lack of wind will allow for fairly cool temperatures. Sunshine will return on Wednesday. Clouds will begin moving north across central Texas on Wednesday and will begin to invade our area Wednesday night. Expect a lot of clouds Thursday morning and a mix of sunshine and clouds Thursday afternoon. Clouds will thicken again on Thursday evening and continue until Friday.
Another front brings a little rain late Friday and a cooler weekend: Our cold front will approach the region on Friday and move through the ArkLaTex on Friday night. Scattered rain is expected to increase Friday afternoon, peak Friday night, and quickly end early Saturday morning on the southern edge of the area. There will be very little instability as this front moves in so don’t expect to hear a lot of thunder. Rainfall should be fairly limited as the Weather Prediction Center indicates the entire area will receive 1/10 of an inch or less. The weather will be colder this weekend, especially on Saturday. Highs on Saturday will have a hard time reaching 50 degrees thanks to a lot of clouds. Lows Saturday night will be in the 20s and lower 30s. Sunshine will start another warm trend on Sunday with highs returning to near 60.
Mainly dry next week with another warm trend: Most of next week will see plenty of sunshine and pleasant temperatures. Highs will eventually return to the 70s. Overnight low temperatures will gradually rise into the 40s and 50s. Another disturbance will bring a chance of light rain next Friday. Rainfall also appears to be limited with this system. The model mix shows that total precipitation between now and next Friday will be less than ½ inch for all areas of the ArkLaTex. Normal precipitation over a 10-day period at this time of year is about 1.5 inches. Enjoy!!
