First 5 weather warning

1st Warning Forecast: Slight chance this evening of a pop-up shower

Updated: 13 hours ago

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – It's hot! For those of you who have been looking for a glimpse of summer, here it is. Most of us reached the mid-80s and some locations reached 90 degrees. There is a small chance of showers on Saturday evening, but most of us will stay warm and dry. Overnight lows don't provide much relief as we expect temperatures to only dip into the mid 60s. Sunday looks to be just as warm. We will have another day of highs in the 80s with humid conditions. Expect partly cloudy conditions. There is a slight chance of popping rain or a storm during the day, but the best chance comes late Sunday evening with the first warning following. A band of showers and thunderstorms will come in from the west likely after 9 p.m. This will allow a few cells to be on the stronger side, with gusty winds being the main concern. I don't expect a major outbreak of severe weather. We should all get at least some rain starting Sunday night and Monday morning. This complex could continue into Monday morning with some residual rain. There is a severe weather threat on Monday, but I am not selling it yet. The biggest threat comes on Tuesday as a strong cold front invades the region. This could give us some thunderstorms during the day, some of them strong. Expect highs in the 80s through Tuesday, with the 70s returning in the second half of the week! Wednesday looks to be our coolest day with highs in the 70s.
