Unseasonably cold with spells of rain on Sunday as the weather remains brisk into the start of this week

Updated: 4 hours ago

Memorial Day weekend got off to a pleasant start as temperatures rose into the 70s across western Wisconsin with sunshine giving way to some clouds this afternoon. High pressure to our south slides eastward as a storm system begins to organize over the central Plains. Isolated showers cannot be ruled out this evening, especially in our northern counties as skies become mostly cloudy tonight. The low will slowly follow east-northeast with showers arriving in the Koli area early in the dawn. Winds will ease from the east and northeast as temperatures drop into the mid to upper 50s. As low pressure builds northeast toward the Great Lakes tomorrow, we can expect periods of rain throughout the day with pockets of heavy rain possible at times. Isolated thunder may also occur, although the chances are low with little stability in place. A light breeze will develop from the east-northeast with temperatures likely to remain steady in the 50s and low 60s. Any rain should taper off by the evening, resulting in a quieter night with mostly clear skies. Rainfall amounts up to an inch will be possible across the region with locally higher amounts out of the question.
