Winds are likely to remain damaging, and wind advisories and high wind advisories remain throughout western Pennsylvania through tonight. Limbs and loose items are at risk as winds reach 60 mph. Power outages can occur, so plan for that by charging these devices and have an emergency kit/plan just in case.
Temperatures will continue to dip into the 30s, but with gusty winds, it will feel like the teens and 20s throughout the day with scattered showers in the morning turning into snow showers as well. Most of the area could pick up up to a few inches of fresh snow, while higher elevations could see 2-6 inches.
Keep in mind that as snow falls, it will be difficult to measure accumulation amounts. Tomorrow it will still be breezy but not as windy as snow showers will continue periodically throughout the day. Light accumulations could occur around Pittsburgh with a few extra inches possible at higher elevations.
The Steelers head to Buffalo to compete in the AFC playoffs, with the game starting tomorrow at 1 p.m. If you’re headed there, the same storm system is affecting them as well.
The game time forecast will be very harsh with temperatures in the low 20s but with the possibility of wind gusts up to 50 mph. That will likely mean wind chills of around 0°C and tougher playing conditions. Snow will continue to fall during the game and can drop several inches!
So make sure you’re extra prepared with plenty of layers and warm materials if you’re going to be in Buffalo this weekend!
This huge Arctic blast will be with us for a long time.
This means our highs will remain below freezing for more than a week. Morning lows will reach the low teens, and Wednesday morning will be in the single digits. The wind chills will be single and negative on each of those mornings.
The only hope for warmth is the little sunlight we receive on certain days. There are some snow chances to watch out for Tuesday and toward the end of the week.
Whatever snow falls between now and next Monday will not melt due to these cold temperatures.
