The No. 3 Florida State Seminoles will arrive in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, to face the Boston College Eagles on Saturday, and inclement weather should play a role in kickoff at noon ET. Hurricane Lee is heading across the Atlantic Ocean toward Canada and is expected to bring heavy rain and winds across southern New England on Saturday. This includes the greater Boston area where this game is still scheduled to be played.
The forecast at Alumni Stadium calls for just over a half-inch of rain with winds of 22 mph with gusts of 39 mph at kickoff. These conditions will need to persist over the course of the competition and both teams will have to adapt to the elements. With strong winds, you can see a few missed field goal attempts/extra points as well as some kicks that don’t quite land on the intended target. That could lead to a strange end result here.
Florida State enters the game as a 24.5-point favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook with a 46.5-point total. One would assume that under these circumstances, the Noles would simply rely on their ground game and that would mean a lot of work to bring back Trey Benson and company.
BC will likely try to do the same, and given that its ground game wasn’t particularly explosive against Holy Cross last Saturday, the Eagles’ pass rush will hit a brick wall against a front seven in the NFL. Florida State should still be able to cover even with rain and wind having a major impact on this contest.
