When this was first revealed fortnite For some reason I’m going back to its roots and redoing the first chapter map, I was thrilled. As someone who started playing Epic Games’ massive battle royale this year, I only experienced the game from Chapter 4 onwards. I’ve completely missed what many consider a golden age, and there seems to be no way of knowing what all the fuss is about.
Last week, that changed with… Launching… launching… taking off fortnite and. Jumping on the Battle Bus now is basically like stepping into a time machine back to 2018 — specifically, Chapter 1: Season 5 — with fan-favorite points of interest like Tilted Towers, Greasy Grove, and Risky Reels appearing on the map, not to mention. All classic weapons and items available to use. Throughout the month, the game will be further updated with more references to the different seasons that make up this legendary original chapter. It was supposed to be beautiful.
It was clearly a huge success – it was announced that the day after the season kicked off (Saturday 4 November) fortnite It was his biggest day in history, with over 44 million players logged in and collectively achieving 102 million hours of play time. However, upon loading the game myself and diving into it, I was quickly disappointed. A lot of the features you’re used to, like the ability to drive cars, raid Holo-Chets with rare weapons, and activate Reality Augments (for additional perks and abilities), are completely missing. Aside from all that, fortnite andThe biggest problem with Zero Build is its lack of consideration for Zero Build players.
For those unfamiliar, Zero Build has been added to fortnite Last year, players were given a new way to play that didn’t involve gathering materials and building defensive structures for battle. Epic Games describes it as a “fast-paced, more tactical” version of the battle royale game, and I’ve been playing it ever since fortniteIt’s always been my favorite way to play.
Zero consideration
Regardless of whether you choose to play Zero Build or Build mode, fortniteThe game’s map remains the same, and for obvious reasons, this means that since last year, new maps have been developed with Zero Build in mind as players naturally have fewer traversal options. To climb a steep slope, you need either an aid such as a Grapple Glove, or a pre-placed zipline, otherwise you’ll have to walk the long way around – not like in construction mode where you can just build your own bridge. Up until this point, this type of navigation has been well absorbed, and I’ve never felt like playing in Zero Build was less of an experience for me.
This brings us back to fortnite andAnd the re-introduction of the 2018 map, which has not been changed to suit the main mode played by thousands every day. Some of the sheer cliffs are a nightmare to traverse. In one of my matches, I was lucky to survive without dying from storm damage because apparently a wide, tall rock was added to the game with the idea that players could simply build a structure to jump over to the other side. Instead, I had to run it completely because I didn’t have a helper in my upload process. Although it’s possible to find Grapplers (an item that allows you to cling to and swing onto distant surfaces like cliffs and trees), as well as the occasional Rift-To-Go (which teleports you into the air so you can glide away) in the new (old?) map, , you can’t assume that you’ll always have one in your inventory to get yourself out of risky locations.
I really wanted to have fun fortnite andAnd while I love a lot of the unlocked items and weapons (the Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle has my heart), it’s frustrating to play in a map that makes me feel punished for playing the mode I prefer, especially when there’s no alternate map to play on for the duration of the season. . It’s one thing to adapt to changes in your loot pool, but it’s another to have to choose a lesser experience or face a completely different game mode that I haven’t trained for.
My complete lack of nostalgia for 2018 is evident fortnite It’s bound to sway my opinion here, but as far as I’m concerned as a Zero Build player, fortnite and It’s a worse experience than the battle royale that I love. While it’s great to see an increase in popularity as a result of this season, I’m honestly looking forward to all the modern tweaks and nuances coming back into play when it’s over.
