Great weather for Friday night football, and a cold front is coming this weekend
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
We dipped below 50 degrees in Jackson this morning for the first time since May 4th (over 4 months ago) but we warmed up nicely this afternoon. The weather will be perfect for tonight’s soccer games! There’s a cold front on the way this weekend but it doesn’t look that impressive and rain chances are low. We’ll have the full weekend forecast and a detailed look at the final week of summer below.
Tonight:
Friday was another great day with another round of perfect Friday Night Football weather across the region. It won’t be too hot, nor too cold and rain seems to stay away between now and the weekend. We saw sunny skies with highs reaching the low and mid 80s again. Friday night lows will drop into the upper 50s or low 60s and temperatures will be around 65-70 degrees for football games. Winds will continue to blow from the north but should be light or calm overnight.
weekend:
The weekend forecast is where things start to get a little tricky. It looks like there’s another cold front on the way but it doesn’t look like a really impressive system. The clouds are looking to rebuild some on Saturday and some shower activity looks possible late Saturday but there’s not a lot of confidence on that front leading to much rain so far or the timing of the system.
The winds will emerge from the north on Saturday and return to the northwest behind the next front on Sunday. We should see more clouds than the sun on Saturday than on Sunday depending on the timing of the front. Highs will reach the low to mid 80s on Saturday and the upper 70s or low 80s on Sunday, depending on the timing and strength of the weekend system. Weekend mornings will start in the upper 50s or around 60 degrees.
next week:
Highs in the last week of summer look to remain close to normal in the mid 80s and rain chances look very slim for the first half of the week. We could see some rain midweek but the chances of significant rain are very low. Winds will remain out of the north on Monday before slowly returning to the east and then southeast by midweek. The week is expected to start with plenty of sunshine but some clouds may try to return as moisture increases from the southerly winds on Wednesday and towards the back half of the work week. Morning lows will hang around 60 degrees as well. Fall officially begins next weekend on Saturday.

Final thought:
Another cold front will come through this weekend but it looks like a mostly dry front and temperatures will only drop a few degrees. Warmer weather is expected to return in the last week of summer and rain chances will remain low in the forecast. The tropics are still hot and several hurricanes will attempt to threaten the United States over the next two weeks. We’ve got you covered at the WBBJ 7 Storm Team Weather Center as always.
