Here is the IMD weather forecast for India till September 18

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast active monsoon conditions over eastern India on Thursday (September 14) and Friday (September 15); Over central India between September 14 and 17 and western India during the period from September 15 to 18. There is a “well-defined low pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and the coasts of northern Odisha and adjoining West Bengal,” the Meteorological Department said.

Heavy rain lashed parts of Odisha, Telangana, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Jammu, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Vidarbha, the IMD said. Moreover, the IMD has issued a red alert in Odisha, predicting heavy rains in Noapara, Kalahandi, Baragarh, Balangir and Sambalpur on Thursday, September 18. Orange alert has also been issued in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Jharsuguda and Bauda among other districts.

Here are the details of the weather forecast and warnings for this week:

East India: Light to moderate rain with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Odisha on September 14, 15 and 18; Jharkhand on September 14 and 15; Over the Ganges River in West Bengal on September 14, and over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from September 14 to 18. Extremely heavy rains are also very likely to occur in Odisha on September 14.

Central India: Light to moderate rains are very likely over Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha during September 14-17 and Chhattisgarh during September 14-16. Very heavy rains are also likely to fall in Chhattisgarh, eastern Madhya Pradesh on September 14-15; Western Madhya Pradesh during September 15-17; Vidarbha on September 15 and 16.

Northwest India: Light to moderate falls with isolated heavy falls are very likely over Uttarakhand during September 14-16; Jammu Division on September 14; southwestern Uttar Pradesh on September 15 and eastern Rajasthan from September 14 to 17; Very heavy rains are also very likely in eastern Rajasthan on September 16.

South India: Light to moderate rain with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Telangana on September 14 and 15 and Kerala on September 14. Isolated heavy rains may hit Telangana on September 14.

West India: Widespread light to moderate rainfall/thunderstorm and lightning with isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Konkan, Goa, Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during September 15-18 and Marathwada during September 14-17; Gujarat region during September 16-18 and Saurashtra on September 17-18. Isolated heavy rains are very likely over Konkan, Goa, Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat region during September 16-18 and Marathwada on September 16.

Northeast India: Widespread scattered light/moderate rain/thunderstorm with isolated heavy rainfall activity very likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on September 14.
