CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Brad Panovich, chief meteorologist for WCNC in Charlotte, joined WCNC in Charlotte in 2003.

In 2018, the “Vanovich” campaign was born. It started with a group of moms as a way to thank Brad for working around the clock to keep the community safe and informed during Hurricane Florence. T-shirts were sold to benefit victims of Hurricane Florence and $37,000 was donated to various non-profit organizations. If you’ve ever seen an “Anna Vanovich” T-shirt in the grocery store, that’s where it came from.

Now, WCNC Charlotte wants to take that idea and build on it.

WCNC Charlotte is now selling “I’m A Fanovich” T-shirts to benefit TreesCharlotte, a non-profit organization he is very passionate about. TreesCharlotte recently released a Tree Canopy Evaluation Study that showed Chararlotte maintains tree canopy coverage at 47.6% which is impressive, but one of the City of Charlotte’s goals is to achieve 50% canopy coverage by 2050. With all proceeds the T-shirts will be sold to TreesCharlotte, which operates By tirelessly growing and diversifying Charlotte’s urban forest and promoting tree care and education, you can help improve the city’s tree canopy.
