After the group match between India and Pakistan ended, intermittent rain pushed the AFC Super Cup 4 match between the two teams to a reserve day on Sunday. India were 147 for two in 24.1 overs when heavy rain fell at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. The rain then stopped but the resumption was delayed due to the pitch being wet. The main reason was that there were wet spots on the floor. The ground crew even used fans to dry out the areas except for using sponges. However, before the match could resume, heavy rain fell again and forced the match to be postponed to Monday.
While the reserve day has been kept as insurance for India’s match against Pakistan, the weather forecast does not paint a particularly rosy picture on Monday either. On the day of booking, play will resume at 3 PM IST. Before the match resumes, here is the hourly weather forecast for Colombo:
2 pm: Temperature – 27 degrees Celsius, chance of rain – 49 percent
3 pm: Temperature – 28 degrees Celsius, chance of rain – 49 percent
4pm: Temperature – 28°C, chance of rain – 71 percent

The activation of the reserve day also means that in less than 24 hours after the Pakistan match ends, India will take on Sri Lanka in the next Super Four on Tuesday. Before the weather played a spoilsport, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were batting on 8 and 17 respectively after Rohit Sharma (56) and Shubman Gill (58) scored two brilliant half-centuries.
India’s opening match of the Asia Cup against Pakistan was canceled due to rain.
The weather was the subject of heated discussion during Sri Lanka’s match in the Asia Cup. Rain is expected in the Sri Lankan capital throughout the tournament.
The Asian Cricket Board’s decision to reserve only a reserve day for Sunday’s match and the final also sparked controversy.
