Intermittent showers during the rest of the working days
Unstable conditions continue to slowly creep back into the area. There has been a chance of rain in southern parts of Kansas since late last night.
You’ll notice more cloud cover today and a chance of rain will try to spread across a few of our western and central Kansas counties during the day. However, keep in mind that any rain will be intermittent and light. The chance of hearing thunder is low.
Overcast skies and rain will continue to keep high temperatures cooler than average. Most of us will spend an afternoon in the 70s.
A cold front approaching from the northwest will keep the chance of rain persisting through the night. The best chance will be to the west and northwest.
Umbrellas and rain jackets will be needed tomorrow as we wrap up the work and school week. Temperatures remain pleasant as this next disturbance continues.
The cold front will stop over the Sunflower State on Friday and will provide a better chance for scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms from west to east.
We will need to monitor extreme southwestern Kansas and the Oklahoma Panhandle closely. There may be a stronger storm in this part of the area to start Friday but there will be another chance for a strong to severe storm during the late afternoon and early evening.
Western Kansas will gradually dry out through Friday night. Some rain will continue into early Saturday in south-central Kansas but any rain will clear by midday.
The rest of the weekend will be nice but it won’t take long for unstable conditions to return. Temperatures will also become warmer.
