Met Office hour by hour weather forecast for Bolton

A yellow weather warning has been issued across the town for snow, with disturbances possible on Thursday and into Friday morning.

The warning is in effect from 6am Thursday 8 February to 6am Friday 9th.

According to the Met Office, there is a possibility that some rural communities will become isolated and power outages may occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected.

There is also the potential for road travel delays with some vehicles and passengers stranded, along with rail and air travel being delayed or cancelled.

A Met Office spokesman said: “A band of rain, sleet and snow will move north on Thursday.

“At lower levels, snow accumulation will be very variable, with some places seeing little or no snowfall, while others see accumulation of 2 to 5 cm over a few hours before the snow gradually melts later on Thursday and overnight.

“On higher ground, particularly above 200 metres, snow thicknesses of between 5 and 10 cm are likely, with snow totals higher on higher ground in North Wales and the South Pennines.

“The easterly winds are strong and gusty, which may lead to erosion in some places, especially over highlands.

“Snowy winter weather can cause delays and make driving conditions hazardous, so to keep yourself and others safe, plan your route, check for delays and road closures, and adjust your travel plans if necessary.

“If driving, allow extra time to prepare and check your vehicle before setting off and make sure you have the essentials packed in your vehicle in case of any delays including warm clothing, food, water, blanket, torch, and ice scraper/equipment.” – ACER, warning triangle, and high-visibility vest And a phone charger inside the car.

“People adapt best when they prepare in advance for the risk of power outages or disruption of services and utilities due to snow.

“It’s easy to do, consider gathering torches, batteries, a mobile phone power bank and other essential items.

“Be prepared for weather warnings to change quickly: When a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends keeping up to date with the weather forecast for your area.”
