It will be mostly sunny and warm on Thursday, with rain expected

Now WBAL, TV 11 weather forecast with meteorologist DALENCIA JENKINS. Good evening everyone. It’s going to be another nice nice day. We’ve brought in some cloud cover from the west, so it may not be the sunniest day we’ve seen over the past few days. But again, the weather is still on the dry side and we’re still on the moderate side and we’re already seeing temperatures in the 50s across the area, 55 in Puy Marshall now, 50 or 55 downtown, 53 in Puy Marshall. We’re in the low 50s in Woodstock and in Frederick, and a little cooler in the higher elevations where we’re in the 40s. By the afternoon, we’ll be warming up into the 50s. So, a few more degrees to warm up as we move into the afternoon. But actually, we’ll notice the cloud cover above where we’ll get more. I still see the sun here and there. But clouds are definitely starting to accumulate and that will continue throughout the night as well as temperatures dropping into the mid to upper 30s. Now it won’t reach those freezing marks as we’ve seen the past few days due to that cloud cover trapping any warmth we gain throughout the afternoon. Then on Friday, sunny skies and then we’ll see temperatures reach the 60s. So it will really start to warm up throughout the region. It’s still cold, and flooding is a threat. Minor coastal flooding until the end of the week. So, even though it’s dry, the wind direction will give coastal areas in Anne Arundel County a slightly higher than normal threat. High tides. So just keep that in mind. For those areas prone to flooding. Like I said, it’s just because of the wind. It won’t rain, at least not today. But our chances will increase as we progress over the next few days. On Saturday, there is a slight chance of seeing some rain, but in reality, our next big chance for rain will be at the start of our new work week. So, I’ll fast forward the future broadcast to Monday to show you how things are shaping up here. So, we will see this area of low pressure moving through the region. Then note that by lunchtime, we are seeing some scattered showers across the state. And things will really get better as we move through the evening and into the night. So we will see a large amount of rain. If it gets cold enough, we may see some wet snowflakes. But this is really expected to be a wet event in Maryland, so enjoy the dry weather while we have today and tomorrow. We’ll see just a little bit of cloud cover, but we’ll still be on the dry side. There will be only a 40% chance of scattered showers on Saturday. But notice how these temperatures are still very mild. Then, we’ll move into our new week with some rain, especially in the south, and then again, we’ll have a greater chance of rain.
