Philadelphia Weather: High temperatures continue to fuel PM storms
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Saturday was humid but not warm, finally a break from the heat wave that broke some temperature records this week.
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for parts of Burlington County, Camden County and Gloucester County in New Jersey, as well as Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania until 8:15 p.m.
The NWS has also issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 11 p.m. for the following Pennsylvania counties: Adams, Bedford, Berks, Blair, Bradford Bucks, Carbon, Center, Chester, Clinton, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Franklin, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Luzern, Lyking, Mifflin, Monroe, Montgomery, Montour, Northampton, Northumberland, Perry, Philadelphia, Pike, Schuylkill, Snyder, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Union, Wayne, Wyoming and York.
The following New Jersey counties are also under a severe thunderstorm watch: Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex and Warren.
A severe thunderstorm warning was also issued for parts of Sussex County and Kent County, Delaware until 5:30 p.m.
There is a “slight” risk of severe weather in Philadelphia and parts of Pennsylvania extending northwest of the city. There is a “marginal” risk of severe weather in New Jersey and Delaware.
A moderate depression hangs over the region this weekend, giving us continued chances of rain and storms. We expect storms mainly after 3pm and 5pm. in the city.
Storms could continue until late at night and into Sunday morning.
The Jersey Shore will see clouds but the weather will be better on Saturday, with less rain chances.
