Quiet and pleasant weather for a while with a little better focus on the Thanksgiving forecast – Space City weather

Good morning. After several days of gray and rainy weather, we will begin to shift to drier and sunnier weather. Our forecast for the coming days seems remarkably consistent, and for November it is very interesting. Conditions start to look more dynamic next week as a stronger front moves in on Monday or Tuesday, forming a cooler pattern that will likely continue through the Thanksgiving holiday.
Tuesday
In general, the rain has ended. Over the past few days, the Houston area has, overall, picked up 2 to 4 inches of much-needed rain that will help our continued recovery from this summer’s deep drought. There is still the potential for some scattered light rain today, but as the low pressure system continues to head east, the momentum for widespread rain has left the building. We should see a little sunshine later today as the clouds start to break in a bit. As a result, high temperatures will reach around 70 degrees, with light northerly winds. Low temperatures tonight will dip into the mid 50s generally in Houston. The weather will be a little cooler for more remote areas.
Wednesday and Thursday
With high pressure building over the area, we should see a mostly sunny day with high temperatures reaching the low 70s. The winds are generally light, northerly. We expect the lows to fall into the mid to upper 50s.
Friday
Friday could be a bit warmer, with highs in the mid 70s, and perhaps more clouds. Lows Friday night will drop into the upper 50s.
Saturday and Sunday
The first half of the weekend looks great for any outdoor plans you have. Skies should be mostly sunny, with reasonably dry air, and high temperatures in the low 70s. Lows Saturday night will likely drop into the 50s, although there is a bit of uncertainty. Sunday looks similar, although it will likely be partly cloudy due to a passing disturbance, and we can’t completely rule out some light rain later in the day and during the evening hours. Call it a 20 percent chance.

Next week is Türkiye Day
Monday should be in the 70s before a cold front passes, perhaps during the afternoon or perhaps not until the overnight hours. There’s a fairly good sign of rain on this front, so I’m counting on a good chance of rain on Monday and Tuesday, perhaps lasting longer. we will see. In terms of temperatures, it now looks as if the front will drop high temperatures to around 60 degrees for a few days, with lows likely in the 40s or 50s. We’ve now reached the murky point of the forecast, but at this point Thanksgiving looks to be on the cooler side. Whether the holiday is rain-free, well, I don’t have much confidence one way or the other.
Space City Weather Fundraiser
We’re in the midst of our annual fundraiser, which is your only chance to support Space City Weather during the year. You wouldn’t believe the number of people who write to me during the spring or summer months asking if they can’t afford a t-shirt. So don’t miss your chance now: head over to our pop-up store to purchase some merchandise or make a donation. Thank you!
