Oak St. Jefferson City muralist Dennis Holliday is supervising work on the mural, which will depict California’s railroad and transportation history. Former California “Motor and Shaker” Jill Hughes conceived of the installation with Holiday about six years ago. Despite working on many murals since then – including several around California – Holiday is finally making Hughes’ dream a reality. Hughes’ family is paying for the mural after his death earlier this year, and California Progress Inc. donated. (CPI) in the amount of $5,000 USD for installation. The CPI will be responsible for the maintenance of the mural. The location of the mural provides a fine view for passengers and crew of passing trains.

Jefferson City muralist Dennis Holliday works early mornings to beat the heat, painting the roof of the water tower that supplies water to Missouri Pacific trains on Fridays for a mural at 405 S. Oak Street that celebrates the history of California’s railroads and transportation.
