Strong storms lead to power outages across Western Pennsylvania – WPXI

PITTSBURGH – Localized flooding will continue overnight as a line of strong storms passes through. Strong wind gusts may also cause isolated wind damage, but the storm threat will pass before sunrise.
Fog forms early Friday, and may lead to reduced visibility in many areas. Check the Severe Weather Team 11’s live forecast before heading out for the latest updates on how fog will impact your morning commute.
Scattered showers are still possible on Friday, but most areas will remain dry. Less humid and more comfortable weather moves into the weekend.

11:45 PM: Below are the power outages reported by West Penn Power:

Duquesne Light reports 831 customers were affected by 36 outages.
11:05 PM: A severe flood warning is in effect for parts of Allegheny, Fayette, Washington and Westmoreland counties, Indiana, until 2:15 a.m.
11 pm: The National Weather Service reported flooding on State Route 51 in Beaver County. One storm report indicates there was 1.5 feet of water on the road near Conway. Another indicates that the road is closed in the southern highlands due to floods.

Duquesne Light reports 584 customers were affected by the power outage.
10:30 pm: A severe flood warning is in effect throughout Allegheny County, including Pittsburgh, until 1:30 a.m.
The warning is also in effect in parts of Washington, Westmoreland, Armstrong, Butler, Indiana and Beaver counties.
10:20 PM: All severe thunderstorm warnings for the area have expired.
10:15 PM: A severe thunderstorm watch has been canceled for Butler, Clarion, Forrest, Jefferson, Lawrence, Mercer and Venango counties. The watch remains in effect for the rest of Western Pennsylvania until 3 a.m
9:45 PM: Both First Energy and Duqene Light are now reporting power outages.

9:40 PM: A Channel 11 reporter spots lightning as storms move toward the cranberries. In addition to lightning, the storm brings strong winds and the risk of heavy rain.
A severe flood warning is in effect for parts of Armstrong, Butler, Beaver and Lawrence counties until 12:45 a.m.
The NWS tweeted that the threat of damaging winds is decreasing, but the risk of flooding is increasing in some areas as storms slow.
9:35 pm: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for parts of Indiana County until 10:15 p.m
9:30 pm: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for parts of Westmoreland County until 10:15 p.m
9:10 PM: A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for parts of Allegheny County, including Pittsburgh, until 10:15 p.m.
9:10 PM: A severe flood warning is in effect for Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties.
21:00: First Energy reported that 524 customers remain without power in Mercer County and 259 customers in Venango County.
8:50 PM: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for part of Beaver County until 9:45 p.m
8:45 pm: A severe flood warning is in effect for parts of Mercer and Venango counties until 11:15 p.m
8:30 pm: A tornado warning has expired for Mercer and Venango counties.
8:27 pm: A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Armstrong and Indiana counties until 9:15 p.m. Severe thunderstorm warnings for Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties have also been extended until 9:15 p.m.
8:15 pm: First Energy reported power outages in Mercer and Venango counties. There are 483 customers affected at Mercer and 141 at Venango.
Duquesne Light reported no outages as of 8:15 p.m
8:05 PM: A tornado warning is in effect for part of Mercer and Venango counties until 8:30 p.m
7:54 pm: A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for part of Armstrong County.
7:44 pm: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for part of Clarion and Butler counties.
7:40 PM: Strong storms are approaching Beaver, West Liberty and Zelenople.
6:56 pm: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for Butler, Mercer and Lawrence counties.
6:20 pm: A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect across Western Pennsylvania until 3 a.m
