Headed to Tahoe for Thanksgiving?
You can expect cool temperatures and mostly clear skies on the mountain, according to the National Weather Service.
“The days leading up to Thanksgiving are going to be a lot of fun and really great for travel,” said Tyler Salas, an NWS meteorologist in Reno, Nevada.
Although light rain is expected early Thursday, Salas said, “This system is not going to be impactful in any way.”

Skies are expected to be clear during the week in Tahoe. With highs reaching 57 degrees Fahrenheit and lows reaching 18 degrees, according to the National Weather Service’s five-day forecast.

“Thursday morning, we will see a cold front swing through the area, which will be able to generate some rain,” Salas said.
He said there is a 10% to 20% chance of rain in the Tahoe area.

“We could see some showers creeping into areas a little closer to (the highway) “Corridor No. 80, which will also include the Tahoe Basin,” he said.
As of Tuesday morning, 10 inches of snow had fallen at Heavenly Ski Resort in South Lake Tahoe this season, including 3 inches in the past seven days.
The resort has an elevation of 6,255 feet and a maximum elevation of 10,067 feet.
The Central Sierra Snow Laboratory, located at Donner Pass in the Sierra Nevada, recorded one inch of snow in its seven-day forecast over the past seven days. The Berkeley Ice Laboratory’s research station is located at an elevation of 6,894 feet
Which ski resorts in the Tahoe area are open?
Although some ski resorts in the Tahoe area will remain closed until December, others have already opened their doors to winter sports enthusiasts.
These resorts include Kirkwood Mountain Resort in Kirkwood, Northstar California Resort in Truckee, and Mount Rose-Ski Tahoe Resort in Nevada.
