Temperatures in central Indiana, Indianapolis are still below freezing

As freezing weather continues to blanket the Midwest, many Hoosiers may be wondering when central Indiana will look less like an icebox. The answer, unfortunately, is not for a while.

Although sunny skies are expected Tuesday and Wednesday, meteorologists say central Indiana will see another round of snow by the end of the week. Temperatures, with the possibility of sub-zero wind chills, will also persist.

When will temperatures be above freezing in central Indiana?

The earliest possible snowmelt in central Indiana won’t happen until Monday, according to local meteorologists with the National Weather Service in Indiana.

Highs on Monday could reach the mid to upper 30s, but there is still a 20% chance of snow, according to the NWS. Temperatures are then expected to slowly rise into the 40s and 50s throughout the rest of next week.
