The Met Office forecasts hour-by-hour sunshine for London after the storm

The Met Office has forecast that autumn sunshine will shine across south London over the next two days.

South London is expected to see sunshine appear in the sky over the next two days, after nearly a week of rain and wind.

The sun will be shining until dusk, with temperatures reaching around 12°C to 13°C.

Flooding is still expected in 34 areas of England, mostly in the south as well as the east and north-east, according to Environment Agency flood warnings on Sunday afternoon.

It comes after Storm Ciaran hit the southern coast and Channel Islands with heavy rain and gusts of up to 100mph on Thursday, leaving nearly 150,000 homes without power.

Most parts of the UK will see dry and sunny spells on Monday with temperatures between 12 and 13C, which is slightly above average for this time of year, according to Met Office meteorologist Simon Partridge.

The weather is expected to turn unsettled later this week, with sunshine and blustery rain expected for many as well as heavy rain on Wednesday.
