Utah’s weather is mild and dry until it changes late in the week

salt lake city (ABC4) – Happy Wednesday, Utah! For the beginning and most of the day, we will see conditions very similar to Tuesday.

Bottom line? Another mild day that feels more like October than November before entering a more active pattern as we head into the weekend.

The warmth of November continues for another day with temperatures ranging 10 to 15 degrees above seasonal averages. Temperatures will once again reach a mix of the 50s and 60s while St. George will be the warm spot reaching the low 70s again. The sky will be clear to partly cloudy in most areas, with increasing clouds and refreshing weather throughout the day.

We begin to change the weather pattern tonight as we enter a more advanced pattern. Overnight into Thursday morning, a low pressure area drops in from the northwest providing a chance for scattered showers across the state as slightly cooler air filters in.

This will be a wet event in the valley with a wet Thursday morning traveling along the Wasatch Front becoming rainy during the afternoon. Since temperatures will not drop much, snow levels will likely remain relatively high for this time of year. However, above 8,000 feet, we can see some accumulation over a few inches.

Once the moisture clears, we set the stage for a calmer Friday with temperatures about five to seven degrees above average, but by the end of the week, another system is set to move in as low pressure moves over the upper level of the Pacific Ocean.

There is a bit of uncertainty when it comes to the timing and storm track of this weekend’s storms. This low pressure area will keep us unsettled, and by the end of this week, we will be looking at a better chance of generally wet weather across the state with daytime highs that will drop to near or even below seasonal averages by the end of the weekend.

At this point, it looks like we will see an increase in humidity across the state on Saturday, with Sunday likely to be the busiest day with valley rain and mountain snow as snow levels drop as cold air moves in. Precipitation amounts will become clearer, and we will keep you updated. As Thanksgiving approaches, skies appear calm as we settle into a period of more seasonable weather, with the possibility of a holiday storm.
