As we enter the new week, hazardous weather forecasts will be in effect Monday through Saturday for Greater Cincinnati and other surrounding areas, according to the National Weather Service.

Monday through Saturday, wind chills, as well as single-digit low temperatures, are expected across southeastern Indiana, northern Kentucky and southwestern Ohio. This includes Hamilton, Butler, Warren and Clermont counties in Ohio and Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties in Kentucky.

The National Weather Service said wind temperatures were expected to drop to -4 degrees Monday morning, -3 degrees Monday night, and -3 degrees Tuesday morning.

Extremely cold wind chills can cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. The National Weather Service recommends wearing warm clothing, including a hat and gloves, when spending time outside.

Snow is expected Monday night with less than a half inch of snow possible. There will be a 20% chance of snow Tuesday morning and then a 60% chance on Thursday.

The Over-the-Rhine Recreation Center operates as an emergency shelter from 10am to 6pm on Sunday and Monday. The Northern Kentucky Emergency Shelter on West 13th Street in Covington is also open and expanding its day services to help people stay out of the dangerous cold.
