Warning of dense fog and expected rain

Temperatures are starting to rise, but heavy fog and rain persist in the greater Cincinnati area.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a hazardous weather forecast for Hamilton County. Dense fog will be possible Wednesday morning and evening. More dense fog will move through the area Thursday morning and evening.

If you are traveling, allow extra time, use low-beam headlights, and leave plenty of space in front of you.

Clouds and rain are also expected for most of Wednesday. Highs will be in the 40s to 50s near and south of the Ohio River.

Widespread rainfall and cloud coverage will continue on Thursday. Dry conditions are expected for Friday. Rain chances return from Saturday to Sunday.

Temperatures will cool somewhat, with highs in the mid 40s to lower 50s during this period, before cooling to the upper 30s to lower 40s on Sunday. Rain may mix with snow on Sunday as cold air works its way over the area.

Wednesday: Rain, mainly before 5 p.m., then areas of drizzle with a chance of rain after 5 p.m., patchy dense fog, with a high near 50. Southeast wind 5 to 11 mph. The probability of rain is 100%. New rainfall amounts range between a half and three-quarters of an inch.

Rain with areas of drizzle possible before 2am, then rain likely between 2am and 4am, then areas of drizzle with rain possible after 4am, dense and mottled fog. Otherwise, the weather will be cloudy, with the minimum temperature around 44. Winds are southerly, 5 to 8 knots, becoming calm in the evening. The probability of rain is 60%. New rainfall amounts are likely between a tenth and a quarter of an inch.

Thursday: Areas of drizzle with a chance of rain before 10 a.m., then mainly rain after 10 a.m. Areas of dense fog before 11 a.m. High near 53. Calm winds. The probability of rain is 100%. New rainfall amounts are likely between a tenth and a quarter of an inch.

Rain likely to fall mainly before 8pm cloudy, with lows reaching 44 degrees. The wind will be southwesterly, light and variable, speeding 5 to 9 knots in the evening. The probability of rain is 70%. New rainfall amounts are likely between a tenth and a quarter of an inch.

Friday: Cloudy, with a high near 51. West wind 3 to 6 mph. Partly cloudy at night, with a low reaching 40 degrees.

Saturday: Rain is likely, especially after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48. Chance of rain 70%.

Sunday: Rain is likely, mainly before 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. Chance of rain is 60%.

Monday: Partly cloudy, with a high around 42.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high around 46.
