Weather in Houston, Texas for 7 days

It's expected to be windy overnight in Southeast Texas.

HOUSTON – It was a stormy night across the Houston area. These are the most current hours and warnings in effect.

Current watches and warnings:

  • TORNADO WATCH is in effect in Polk, San Jacinto and Trinity counties until 1 a.m
  • A severe flood warning is in effect for central Polk and southeastern Trinity counties until 3 a.m
  • A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for southeast Walker County until 3:45 p.m
  • A flood watch is in effect for Grimes, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity and Walker counties until 10 a.m. Monday.
  • A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for central San Jacinto and central Polk counties until 12:45 a.m.
  • A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for southwestern Trinity, northcentral Montgomery, northwest San Jacinto and southeastern Walker counties until 1 a.m.

A flash flood emergency is now in effect in Trinity County. According to the National Weather Service, there is life-threatening flooding between the cities of Trinity and Groveton.

A tornado watch indicates where conditions may be favorable for a tornado to develop this evening. In addition, large hail and damaging wind gusts of up to 70 mph are also likely.

Storms Sunday evening will likely become severe with widespread rainfall of 2-3 inches. Some areas may receive up to 5 inches. Floods can occur in poor, sewage-poor and urban areas.

Isolated storms are expected later Sunday evening. Storms north of Houston increase the risk of producing a few tornadoes. Storms will become more widespread during the overnight hours, and damaging winds, flooding, and hail will be the main concerns.

The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) also placed the city under a severe Level 3 threat. Severe potential exists throughout Southeast Texas, but is highest in areas north of I-10.

Over the next seven days, expect humid and warm temperatures with afternoon highs in the upper 80s. Rain and scattered storms continue in the forecast until Tuesday. High temperatures will reach 90 degrees by Friday, with drier weather and more breaks in cloud cover.
