Meteorologists have warned that severe weather could impact Americans’ travel across the country on Thanksgiving.
The National Weather Service (NWS) said thunderstorms and heavy rain extending from the lower Mississippi Valley to the Northeast are possible due to a storm system that is set to develop in the days leading up to Thanksgiving.
“The cold front is producing strong winds, high-elevation snow, coastal and valley rain, and a wave of cold air across much of the western United States this weekend,” the National Weather Service said in an advisory.
“The pre-Thanksgiving storm could bring areas of severe thunderstorms, gusty winds, heavy rain and heavy snow from the central to eastern United States early in the week which will impact travel.”
However, temperatures will be generally seasonal for the East Coast in the coming days, although they may fall below average across much of the West.
