Here is the weather forecast for India:

Thursday (March 7)

  • Light rain/snowfall is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
  • Scattered light rains may affect Odisha, western sub-Himalayas, Bengal and Sikkim.
  • The maximum temperature is expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius or more along the coast of Maharashtra and in the western interior of Andhra Pradesh.
  • Air quality will be poor mainly over the plains in the northern half of the Indian subcontinent, and around Bengaluru.

A trough-shaped western disturbance is expected to occur in the mid-tropospheric western regions along Long. 65°E north of Lat. 32°N. As a result, light rain/snowfall is very likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on March 7.

Meanwhile, another new Western Disturbance is expected to impact the Western Himalayan region from the night of March 10. As a result, light/moderate rain/scattered snowfall may occur over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Himachal. Pradesh and isolated rain/snowfall is likely over Uttarakhand during March 10-13.

There is a cyclonic circulation over southern Odisha in the lower tropospheric levels. This is expected to cause isolated light rains over Odisha from March 7-9 and over the Himalayan region of West Bengal and Sikkim on March 7-8.

There is another cyclonic circulation over eastern Assam in the lower tropospheric levels. Under its influence and eastward movement of the current western disturbance, light/moderate rain/snowfall is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh during the next 24 hours and light/moderate rain/snowfall during the next 6 days.

Finally, hot and humid weather is expected to prevail over Rayalaseema and Kerala during the next 24 hours. Coastal Maharashtra and interior Andhra Pradesh will witness heatwave conditions.
