What will conditions be like near you this week as summer ends

The UK is set to experience heavy rain and stormy weather this week, marking the end of the latest mini-heatwave.

According to the Met Office, heavy rain and thunderstorms will spread across the country, with the west seeing cloudy conditions and scattered thunderstorms becoming more persistent on Sunday evening.

While the east may be drier to begin with, it is expected to be more cloudy than recent days, with more thunderstorms possible in the southeast later.

On Monday, there will be more heavy rain and thunderstorms, although it is expected to become drier and fresher from the west in the evening.

“They will move intermittently north throughout the afternoon into parts of Wales, the Midlands and south-east England.”

Futrey added that the beginning of Monday will be unstable, with rain falling eastward throughout the day, and there will be heavy rain in a large number of places.

The winds will then turn to increasing winds as we approach Tuesday, he said.
