UPDATE 5:47 p.m. – A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Carroll County until 6:30 p.m. At 5:47 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was identified near Taneytown, or near Westminster, moving northeast at 35 mph with wind gusts to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail. UPDATE 5:16 p.m. – A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Howard, Montgomery and Prince George's counties until 6 p.m. At 5:16 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was identified over the American Legion Bridge, moving northeast at 30 mph with wind gusts to 60 mph.60 mph and quarter-sized hail. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Baltimore and Harford counties until 5:45 p.m. At 4:58 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was identified over Fallston, or 9 miles northeast of Cooksville, moving northeast at 30 mph with wind gusts to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail. A severe thunderstorm watch was canceled west of Frederick County. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for parts of Baltimore and Harford counties until 5 p.m. At 4:27 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was identified near Jarrettsville, or 13 miles northeast of Cooksville, moving northeast at 25 mph with wind gusts to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail. A trained spotter reported 1 inch of hail in Towson, and another spotter reported 10 cents falling. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Baltimore City and Baltimore County until 5 p.m. At 4:10 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was identified over Pikesville, moving northeast at 15 mph with wind gusts to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail. 4 p.m. Update – Carroll County Public Schools has announced some bus delays due to road closures and traffic signal issues due to the storms. Some buses will be delayed returning students home. Update 3:56 p.m. – A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Baltimore and Harford counties until 4:30 p.m. At 3:55 p.m., severe thunderstorms were identified along a line from near the railroad to 9 miles west of Jarrettsville to Cockeysville, moving northeast at 25 mph with wind gusts to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail. Update 3:14 p.m. – A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Baltimore, Carroll and Frederick counties until 4 p.m. At 3:14 p.m., severe thunderstorms were identified along a line from near Taneytown to near Westminster, moving northeast at 15 mph with wind gusts to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail. Update 2:30 p.m. – A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of Carroll, Frederick and Howard. The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for most of Maryland until 9 p.m. Thursday. Meteorologist Dalencia Jenkins said there will be a scattered chance of storms north and west of Baltimore. Then on Friday, there will be a greater chance of severe storms. A trained observer reported hailstones as large as one inch in Towson, and another observer reported hailstones as small as ten to five cents along York Road north of the Beltway in Lutherville.

Update 4:11 PM — A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Baltimore City and Baltimore County until 5 p.m. At 4:10 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was observed over Pikesville, moving northeast at 15 mph with wind gusts to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail.

Baltimore — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for most of Maryland until 9 p.m. Thursday.

There will be a chance of scattered storms north and west of Baltimore, said meteorologist Dalencia Jenkins.

Then on Friday, there will be a greater chance of severe storms. Stay tuned for forecast updates.
