After you put the second mark A small box should appear at the bottom of the screen. This tells you the distance between the two points. In our case, it tells us that there are 3.71 km, or 2.31 miles, between our office in London and the British Museum if you travel between them in a straight line.

Final thoughts
If you can't walk through walls or soar into the sky like Kitty Pryde and Angel from the X-Men, measuring the direct distance between locations probably won't tell you how far you'll actually have to travel.
For example, traveling between our London office and the British Museum would actually be a 2.7-mile (4.35-kilometer) walk according to Google, rather than the 2.3 miles it gave us for the direct distance between them.
If you plan to walk or drive between locations, the Google Maps Directions tool on desktop and smartphones is a much better option for figuring out how far you have to go. Just like the regular distance tool, you can easily add locations to travel between and you can add multiple destinations to create a route with multiple stops.
